January, 2016 is by far the best month for Tollywood in recent years. Telugu cinema has seen close to 13 releases in 2016, 4 being released during the Pongal week. It all started with “Nenu.. Sailaja” which released on the very beginning day of New year which has proved to be a Block buster, Ram announced his comeback after going thru rough patch, fresh treatment with family elements yielded super results for the makers.

And then on 8th, RGV’s Killing Veerappan made to the theaters, audience hailed RGV’s for his brilliance in taking real life incidents on to the screens. Film was lapped up well by critics and the audience who loves to watch intense films. Film has raked in good sums for the producers, taken in shoe string budget by meticulous planning of RGV film stands a Hit.

And the pongal season starts with roaring opening for NTR’s Nannaku Premtho, followed up by Balayya’s Dictator and Sharwa’s Express Raja. While Nannaku Prematho taken the top spot at Box-office collections, Dictator too had it’s fair share, Even Express Raja reached its break evens in express time.

On 14th released Nagarjuna’s family entertainer Soggade Chinni Nayana, which has proved to be major Sankranthi success. SCN amassed double profits for distrubutors, and made all the share holders delighted. January last week, seen as good as 4 releases, only Kalavathi, which is Telugu dubbed version of Aranmanai2 caught the audience eye balls.

January 2016 have seen 2 Blockbusters in the form of Nenu Sailaja and Soggade Chinni Nayana, Nannaku Premtho a Super Hit, Express Raja a Hit, Dictator a Semi-Hit and Kalavathi and Killing Veerappan proved to be good commercial grossers. Distrubutors had the best of their time in the early 2016, hope the year brings in more success.

In the history of Telugu cinema, this January 2016 has been a memorable one which raked in a gross of 225 crores which is an unbelievable one. Hope Tollywood cinema escalates to new heights in coming future with big releases like Sardaar Gabbar Singh, Brahmotsavam and Baahubali 2.
