Soggade Chinni Nayana Is Sankranthi Winner

Sankranthi has witnessed a clash of 4 films which happens very rarely. The best thing currently happening for Telugu film industry is that all 4 films are doing decent business at the box office irrespective of the talk and reviews. Now the question is who is the Sankranthi winner.

The first film to release this festival season is Nannaku Prematho. Though opened to average to above average talk the film is minting money at the box office especially in overseas. Film so far has collected a gross of $1.7 Million in USA and is all set to become the top 3 film in overseas. In the first 6 days the film has collected a worldwide share of 40+ crores. Though the collections are good, the film has to collect at least a share of 53 crores to become a hit status as the distributors have bought at high prices.

The films that released after Nannaku Prematho are Dictator and Express Raja. Balakrishna’s Dictator collections are decent so far in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana but very poor in USA. However the film will end up as an average one at the box office. Express Raja which is made on a moderate budget of 4 crores has collected almost 3.5 crores share in the first 5 days of its release and is all set to break even with in one week itself making it a profitable one for the distributors.

The surprise hit of the festival season is Soggade Chinni Nayana which released in below 500 screens across the world because of the competition. Nagarjuna has released the film on his own in overseas and the film has already collected close to $600,000 in USA and is expected to collect $900,000 in its full run in overseas. Looking at the pre release business and the budget the distributors have break even already in just 5 days. The number of screens have gone up to 600. Film collections are very good at the start of the weekend surpassing all the other films. Collections are also steady in most of the locations making the film a Sankranthi winner at box office.
