India’s largest two wheeler maker Hero MotoCorp has plans to set up a manufacturing plant in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh with an investment of around 2200 crore spread across 600 acres. All the major states in South India competed for this project but Hero has finally zeroed on AP.
This is going to be the second automobile manufacturing unit in AP after ISUZI. Hero MotoCorp MD and CEO Pawan Munjal had said in June that the company was looking to setup one of its largest facilities in South India for the local market. Immediately all the neighboring states started to attract the two-wheeler giant with incentive packages.
Recently the CEO of Hero MotoCorp Pawan Munjal met the AP chief minister Chandra Babu Naidu and discussed in detail on the setting up of plant. The proposed plant will have a capacity of around 1.8 million units. New plant will provide 5000 jobs directly and 10,000 jobs indirectly.
